Before European contact, the Native American tribe of Snohomish occupied the area of Everett. The indigenous people here practiced hunting and gathering as a source of livelihood. When the Europeans arrived, the tension between the white settlers and the indigenous people led to the signing of the 1855 Treaty of Point Elliot. In 1861, Dennis Brigham an early settler of this area built a cabin to claim the shore of Port Gardener Bay. After that, this area remained for several years without any significant development. However, in 1890, Charles L. Colby and Henry Hewitt Jr conceived the idea to develop a city on the peninsula along the Snohomish River banks and that's how this town was born.

Today, Everett has grown from a village area to a modern city located in northwestern part of the state of Washington in the county of Snohomish where it is the county seat. This city covers a total area of approximately 48.5 square miles with a population of about 110,000 people making it the largest city in the county and the seventh largest in the state. This region is one of the core cities of Seattle –Tacoma-Olympia CMSA. For transportation, this area has Interstate 5, and the nearest aviation facilities include Paine Field, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, and Boeing Field.
